This page brings together services for people who may need support with personal wellbeing, family matters, conflict resolution, substance misuse, or other community-related challenges.

Here you can find information about counselling, mediation, drug and alcohol support, and general community support. Some services are delivered by external professionals or partner organisations, and may require an appointment, referral, or direct contact with the service provider.

Each listing explains what the service is for, who it may support, and how to contact the right person for more information or to arrange support.

Sligo Community Mediation Service

Short Description

Sligo Community Mediation Service helps people resolve conflict through a confidential and professional mediation process. The service supports safe conversations, mutual understanding, and agreed solutions between people or groups in dispute.

What’s Included

  • Pre-mediation meetings with each party

  • Agreement to mediate

  • Joint or separate mediation meetings

  • Support to identify and prioritise issues

  • Exploration of possible solutions

  • Written and signed mediated agreement

  • Review of the situation after agreement, where needed

 

Additional Information

Mediation can support community, family, workplace, neighbour, intercultural, and organisational disputes.

Sligo Community Counselling 

Short Description

Sligo Community Counselling offers confidential, professional counselling and support for people experiencing emotional, personal, family, or school-related difficulties. The service offers support to individuals, families, schools, and service providers across Ireland.

What’s Included

  • Counselling for anxiety, stress, panic attacks, trauma, anger, and depression

  • Support around bereavement, separation, sexuality, LGBTI+ issues, suicide, and self-harm

  • Young adult coaching for ages 18–25

  • Support with eating behaviours and parenting difficulties

Comming in september 2026 the following:

  • Counselling for teenagers, children, school refusal, exam stress, bullying, and behaviour difficulties

  • Services for schools, organisations, EAP, and workshops

Pieta Sligo

Short Description
Pieta House provide professional one-to-one therapeutic service to people who are in suicidal distress, those who engage in self-harm, and those bereaved by suicide.

What’s Included

  • Free therapy services

  • Support for suicidal thoughts

  • Bereavement support after suicide

  • 24-hour crisis helpline

  • Text support service

  • Wheelchair access

  • Translation and hearing-impaired services

Seniors Alert Scheme (SAS)

Short Description
The Seniors Alert Scheme (SAS), administered by Pobal, provides eligible individuals aged 65 and older with a monitored personal alarm to enhance their safety and security at home.

What’s included

  • Monitored personal alarm

  • Support for safety and security at home

  • Free alarm equipment and installation

  • First year’s monitoring fee covered by the scheme

  • Available for people with limited means

  • For people living alone or with another person
